THE UOCEAN PROJECT®

Uniting humanity against ocean & marine plastics to remove #1BILLIONKILOS by 2030.

Affecting change on multiple levels

Community

Through our network o local UOcean® volunteers and chapters, we affect change at a local community based level with our volunteers and leaders stretching the length of the United Kingdom.

Regional

Our regional managers bring all the UOcean® chapters together when a single issue is larger than a local chapter can manage alone in the United Kingdom, such as the influx of PPE that is polluting our waterways.

National

Our dedicated UOcean® legal environmental policy experts work with the local MP’s and government to affect change at a national level in the United Kingdom regarding marine and ocean plastics.

The UOcean Project

We are one of the UK’s fastest growing, inclusive and diverse ocean plastic clean up movements spreading across the nation.

Step 1: Raising awareness

We raise awareness of ocean plastics through social media using the #1BILLIONKOLOS tag and UOcean® accounts to recruit volunteers and spread the movement further.

Step 2: Volunteers

We then organise clean ups with these volunteers around the country and provide them with equipment, necessary training and support.

Step 3: Establishing UOcean® Chapters

We aim to expand our reach and further the impact by establishing UOcean® Chapters locally, regionally and nationally to conduct regular clean ups.

Step 4: Monitoring the data

During our UOcean® clean ups, our volunteers count and weigh the plastic collected and report the data back to us before the recycling phase occurs.

Step 5: The Future: Installing autonomous cleaning technology

The UOcean® Project understands that cleaning canals, rivers and beaches by hand is only part of the answer to solve the world’s ocean plastic crisis.

We need to stop the flow of plastic with green autonomous technology in the most polluting rivers, stemming the flow of plastic that gets into the ocean.

We also believe legislation around the use of plastic and its recycling capabilities is needed.
